View Full Version : [SOLVED] Moving to Python27 in 10.04

Ubuntu 10.04.

I need to move from Python 2.6 to 2.7 so I have access to ttk in Tkinter. Besides which, it just would be nice to be working with 2.7.

Is it possible to get 2.7 in Ubuntu 10.04?

I am running 10.10 and synaptic offers to download 2.7. Search on python2.7 to see if it is easily installed from synaptic.

Whatever you do do not uninstall 2.6 as Ubuntu depends on that version. You have to run 2.7 by including it in your commands.

In my synaptic it's not offered.

I see ttk is in python3, can you use that?

It is just easier to use something from synaptic than downloading and installing which you can do.

Another choice is to add a ppa.

I thank you for your help. I don't feel I have enough experience to do an install that is out of the ordinary at this time. I went to the sites you mentioned, and I now think I have enough knowledge to do it, just not enough experience. So I'm going to put it off for awhile.

If I knew how to mark this as solved, I would do so, but I can't find anything on the page to do that with.

There is a box at top of page marked thread tools - :)
