This is the computer: http://www.ebay.com/itm/180822769272?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_1796wt_1396

Specs I know of:

Intel Core 2 6400 2.13GHz
3gb DDR2( I have 2 to add)
400gb HD (Have one to add)

I am unsure of the graphics but I found on the net either Intel GMA 3000 Dynamic Video Memory Technology 4.0 or Intel 256 MB Graphics Card. Are these effects more CPU or GPU dependent?

I want to be able to do stuff like this:

Edit: Just realized I might have put this in the wrong sub forum, if a mod can move it that would be good, thanks and sorry.

actually it is ok.

Intel GMA 3000 if it's that HD i think it migh tbe able to run it.

it is more GPU dependent, but CPU helps.

you would have to go with 10.04 to get this kind of effects i think... I am not sure if they are possible in Unity.

The CPU is more than sufficient, especially with the 3Gb. of RAM. I was running 10.04 on a Core 2 E6320 (which is below the 6400) and a GMA 3000, without problems and very satisfying response time.

The GMA 3000 is also sufficient for compiz (always from 10.04 installation), compiz is only affected by the graphical card capabilities, not the CPU.

Oh wow great to hear, so 10.04 is the one I should get? guessing it has errors in 11.10? Thanks :D

10.04 is sure ok. But nothing prevent to test something more up to date, and revert back to 10.04 if needed.

Use the report abuse button and ask for it to be moved :)

No idea where you think you want it so I've juts left it here - mostly those like go in the cafe.

Well at first I thought it belonged here then I read "Problems with hardware & laptops not being detected or supported during or after install." and I was like...hmmm maybe not.

If its fine here then its fine by me. :)

Alright so I just found a Geforce 6800 PCI-Express card, I want to use it because it has a DVI port, is it better?
