I need to use F2 more than change my brightness. How can I make it so F2 is F2 and Fn+F2 is brightness etc....

Thanks, this is killing me.

Laptop is HP dv6.

You will have to check in the BIOS as it's controlled at the hardware level. Their business class notebooks have it under an 'action keys' setting, but I've found a majority of the consumer class notebooks such as DV6's don't.

EDIT: DV6 isn't the model. It's just a series of notebooks that includes dozens if not over a hundred different models at this point. DV6's came with intel and amd processors, nvidia and ati graphics card, etc... Knowing the model won't really matter in this instance as their isn't a spreadsheet out there that I know of that lists which BIOS has the option and what doesn't but for future reference thought I'd point that out.
