Hi, i am plannig to build a new desktop and i would like some recommendation about which motherboard to choose.
I am getting it for simple use.
A hint on cpus is also welcome.

Choice depends on how much you want to spend and how far on the "leading edge" of technology you want to be ...

My personal favorite used to be ASUS. I used them for YEARS.

Then, I had a board short out for no apparent reason.

Switched over to using Gigabyte -- and have been really impressed by their work.

Suggest you go read some reviews of recent boards to see which ones best fit your needs. A really good review site is:

The short circuit may have nothing to do with Asus but rather Rohs requirement for lead free circuitboards. see http://www.tinwhisker.us/
