Seems this problem has appeared before? Here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1688969) & here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1106275).

Just installed Unity 11.10 on my wife's HP Mini 1030NR - upgrading from Linux Mint 9. Everything is OK, except that the fan is running full tilt when the netbook is idle. This might also be a bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpid/+bug/861352)?

Does anyone know if there's a solution to this? (There didn't seem to be a problem in Live mode.) Hoping to find one. If not, I'm open to suggestions as to other distros (or versions of Ubuntu) I can try?

Two HP Mini's here. A BIOS upgrade will solve it pretty fast.
I think they're meant to run in Windoze, though (BIOS update software).

Thanks. Quick question. Doesn't updating the BIOS depend on Windows? Would the flash executable work with Wine? XP is long gone on my wife's little Mini. I don't even know where the windows install disks are... or if I even have them.
