gain access to the web

OK, Here i go, I am not really as new at this as you might think, I am however finally up on Ubuntu 11.04 and having issues. My first issue is that I am unable to gain access to the web. My Firefox is not working, however I am connected to my network via wireless. The second issu is that I am unable to bring my Libre Writer up,, however I can see my Calc and Impress. There is a multitude of other apps that I cannot enter into for use. Is this distro a flop or can there be a fix out there ???

I am all open for suggestions and answers to my issues. PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there have you tried


sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade


is it a frsh install or has this just broken? also did you uprade via dist-upgrade? There have been quite a few errors dist upgrading from 10.x to 11.x

when youre on your network, goto the command line and type ping google.com i want to see what happens.

also, your subject line needs to say what your problem is. change it.
