I just installed ubuntu a few days ago and I wanted to play some of the that are availible for linux, but im guessing theres somthing I need to do to get my graphics card ready for that.

to name a few games im trying to get up and running: Cube, Enemy Territories, Mania Drive, Nexuiz, and Warsow

I extract the files and try to open them by just double clicking but nothing happins at all.

My Graphics card is an Nvida GeForce 4 MX 440

It really depends, which format of the game you downloaded.

Also make sure you install the nvidia driver if havn't done it.

(NEUB ALERT!)

I'll give this one a bump rather than starting a new thread... I too am trying to install Maniadrive. I've followed the instructions regarding tar.gz that I found here:

http://www.monkeyblog.org/ubuntu/installing/

But can't get anything to work (even the compile). Funny thing is, I can run the game by clicking mania_drive.sh in one of the folders...

What did I do wrong (or is this how it's supposed to work)?

Yup, that's how it works.
