launchpad

i am interested moving a small programming project onto an oline revision control system like sourceforge.

it seems that launchpad offers some similar features, but i can't find much information on it. is anyone managing a project on launchpad? how does it compare to sourceforge? what would you recommend.

i still dont feel that i really understand whether its what i want. it seems to be more geared around making branches of upstream projects, than hosting new ones (though they may just talk about the unique features they are proud of).

i think i might go with sourceforge for now, and i think i understand its scope a bit better. seems like i can easily migrate to launchpad in the future.
