I'm using a thinkpad E40 laptop, with windows 7 and kubuntu dual-booted. The wireless card is Realtek 8188CE.
At first I had the problem of the network manager asking for a wireless password on each start-up. I installed wicd to fix this, but soon the wireless connection became very slow. Eventually this deteriorated to me getting no connection at all (or maybe getting a very slow one for a few minutes every 15 minutes), even though wicd tells me wireless is connected.
Even weirder was when I plugged in an ethernet cable, the internet worked well for a while, but after about 30 minutes, it just refused to load anything in firefox.
Throughout this, my Windows connection (on the same laptop) has worked perfectly.
I would be extremely happy if anyone could help me, because I'm looking forward to migrating completely to kubuntu.
