View Full Version : [SOLVED] Sound issue - PulseAudio

Maybe this is well known? Just in case, I'll post my experience...

I was trying to get Skype to work with my USB webcam, and couldn't get sound. Basically I couldn't select the webcam microphone because I apparently don't have a PulseAudio mixer available. Or something like that.

At the suggestion of something I read somewhere, I removed PulseAudio from the system. Once I did that I was able to select the webcam microphone in the Skype UI.

(But this is the MythTV forum, so why am I posting here?)

Prior to doing this, audio was working in MythTV, but I found that using the computer speakers (I am going to test out HDMI audio as soon as my HDMI cables arrive next week...) I had to crank everything as far as I could to hear anything at all, especially for recordings of digital channels.

Once I got PulseAudio removed from the system, I found that all of the MythTV audio was significantly louder.

Now I just have to find that command I used for removing PulseAudio from the system so that I can do it again when I build the next one...!
