Brasero is quite buggy and it is very common for it not to work during dev cycle.
Another applications should be chosen instead. Brasero does not look very pleasing anyway.

I would agree that brasero was fairly buggy in the past, and for that reason I used to always add k3b to the gnome version of ubuntu, even though it looked awful on a gnome desktop.
However, in 10.04 Lucid, brasero seems to be faultless as far as I can see, and hasn't let me down at all since I installed Lucid. I can not comment on later brasero versions as I have not run a version of ubuntu above 10.04 for a long enough period to test it, other than on a netbook with no CD drive.

Absolutely! I use Brasero in Lucid to burn all my .iso files. In this instance though I thought I would try it on Precise.

Is that that because of Brasero's bugginess it won't run anymore?
Last night I've burned one ISO file, and two normal data DVDs.
This morning when I tried to burn an ISO, or even run Brasero app, it just shows an icon in the "systray" or bar, or whatever it's called in Unity ... and closes immediately, not even Brasero's window opens, just the icon ...
How to check what's going on, and why it won't run ?
Thnx
EDIT: found a bug: when looking at processes Brasero was still there, "sleeping", had to shut down the process in order to run the app from the menu or terminal. The process seems to hang in the processes list after right clicking to burn a file/ISO and quitting the app. A bit of a nuisance. Moving to K3B, will see how this manages burning discs and ISO files.
