View Full Version : [ubuntu] How to get multiple sound cards to play different things? (Deckadance/VDJ)

Hi, I've got a bit of a problem here.

I'm trying to use a VDJ software called Deckadance (running through Wine), and part of creating mixes requires me to be able to listen to a track through headphones while something else plays out through speakers/another line.

I've got two soundcards on my machine: an internal and a USB one. How would I go about making one card have channels 1 & 2, and the other having channels 3 & 4?

What worked with me in the past on a Windows machine was using one sound card that had 5.1 surround, so I just had channels 1 & 2 as left/right headphones, and channels 3 & 4 as left/right speakers. However, that setup only used one soundcard.

Is there a way to fool Ubuntu into thinking that the two sound cards are really one surround sound-soundcard?

Sorry if this is confusing, I can explain more if anyone wants me to.
