Additional plugins?

I am trying to use Audacity to transfer a tape to a CD.
I have got a NVidia GeForce 6100 motherboard and I have checked in the mnual that the blue port is Line-in and I have got the other end of the jack connected to my stereo's mic port.
However, no sound is coming out!
Is there a plugin or extra software I need to download to make this work?

If you are transferring audio from your stereo to pc then the connection to your stereo needs to go to the line out or headphone socket and at the pc end as you say,the line in.

I've done that - which output option do I choose in Audacity though?
Default Line-In 0, Default Line-In 1; there are quite a few!
