Forgive my inexperience here, but how often would you estimate that after a response to a technical question, the OPer does not provide any feedback as to whether the advice worked or not?

I'm not advocating that there should always be a meaningless exchange of courtesies accompanying every thread ("Oh thanks, that was fantastic, I'll name my first child after you!" - "Just doing my job" - "No , no, you're far too modest" etc.), but it seems that there's a fairly high incidence of "OP dropout", and sometimes I'm left wondering whether I gave the wrong advice!

I hear you. Just one of those things in life I have to learn to accept, eh?

I try to reply with feedback on the result of trying the advice. I know I definitely asked a lot of questions earlier when I was a newbie, and I'll say again, that the technical advice provided me was high quality and it worked.
