Iv'e been getting this bug for some time. It seems that the Unity desktop places saved file icons to desktop as an offset overlay. And I have this on multiple installs and different PCs - so it is not isolated. It usually happenes from behind the scenes, when I have a window open that fills the screen, but, with a mini window the icons place just swell. I'm not sure I can call this exclusively a Precise bug.

This has existed in Gnome for forever. You can overlap icons on top of each other if you manually drag and drop them. This is by design so that you can place them anywhere you want. Hpwever in practice to me it's really annoying and I have to use "Organize Desktop by Name" all the time. I wish there was an option for keeping everything in a nice grid or from overlapping all the time, but there isn't.
P.S. I think KDE has this option though.
