I recently installed 11.10 and have been having issues with my removable devices. If the device is plugged in BEFORE turning on the computer, it works fine. USB devices seem to do fine in-session as well. However, CDs, DVDs, and memory cards will not work. I plug it in and nothing happens.

Please let me know if you can help fix this issue. It's rather annoying to have to restart every time I want to watch a movie! :)

Cheers,
Ashton

Blonde Warning,

I also seem to have a similar experience to what your going through as well.

I just bought a new Dell Workstation with Windows 7 and installed Ubuntu 11.10 along side of it as a dual boot.

I have an external Seagate hard drive (1TB) that does not mount after logging in after a shutdown or reboot.

If I unplug the drive and plug it back in, whala! It mounts without a problem.

I am wondering if its something to do with bootup in BIOS, but still looking for answer......
