Hi, I am getting some weird error when running easyubuntu.

On launching easyubuntu I get this in terminal -

garyke@Dogbert:~$ cd easyubuntu
garyke@Dogbert:~/easyubuntu$ sudo python easyubuntu.py
Password:
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 169
Major opcode: 147
Minor opcode: 3
Resource id: 0x0
Failed to open device
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 169
Major opcode: 147
Minor opcode: 3
Resource id: 0x0
Failed to open device

But then it launches okay? and I select the items I want but then get an error in the EasyUbuntu Log window as copied below (quite long):

apt-get -o=dir::etc=/home/garyke/easyubuntu/conf -o=dir::etc::sourcelist=sources.list update

Hi, I am getting some weird error when running easyubuntu.

On launching easyubuntu I get this in terminal -

X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 169
Major opcode: 147
Minor opcode: 3

Not quite sure why this happens, but i have seen this happen on Live cd's.
Looks like you've been affected by:

https://launchpad.net/products/easyubuntu/+bug/46499
https://launchpad.net/products/easyubuntu/+bug/47171

sudo -s
echo "flashplugin-nonfree flashplugin-nonfree/httpget boolean true" | debconf-set-selections -
exit

to allow flash installation

sudo -s
echo "sun-java5-jre shared/accepted-sun-dlj-v1-1 boolean true" | debconf-set-selections -
exit

to allow sun java installation.

This is only an issue on Kubuntu, and should be fixed over the weekend.

Hi. Am also getting similar errors in kubuntu dapper, but whenever I try and launch any program from the command line, eg kwrite or kate. They run fine but leave these errors in the terminal window:

jonboy99,

wish I could help, but I am experiencing the same problem (in Kubuntu 6.06 LTS Dapper Drake), and unfortunately, am but a Linux newbie.

Here is my error that I get when launching adept:

X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 168
Major opcode: 145
Minor opcode: 3
Resource id: 0x0
Failed to open device
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 168
Major opcode: 145
Minor opcode: 3
Resource id: 0x0
Failed to open device

adept seems to launch ok and function well (outside of some other error which I'm pretty sure is unrelated) despite these error messages.

thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to provide some advice.

There is a BadDevice problem solution (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=185930), but you can let it be as it is, it's related to some TabletPC driver and does not affect anything but your nerves ;-)

I just now downloaded the SVN version of Easyubuntu..
When I try to start it with
sudo python easyubuntu.in
all i get is

You cannot run EasyUbuntu as root. Please run it as a user.

When I try to do that upon installing the things I want with EU it gives me a plentitute of "Permission Denied" errors..

I use Kubuntu 6.06.... should it not work with Kubuntu as well?
