Interesting idea, but it would be nice if you had something to show before starting a thread like this.

Anything's better than Unity or Shell.

It seems to be fallback mode. It would be good to have a distro marketed as using that, for people who like it that way.

Nah, Im perfectly happy with having either Unity or Gnome Shell to choose from. :D
Both of which i love! :P

Looks nice though,
glad to know the option is there in case friends/acquaintances needed it.

If you really wanted the old Gnome 2 style of how things work with great compatibility with Compiz, why not just use XFCE?

sudo apt-get install gnome-session-fallback
Wow I have exactly what you're marketing!

Yes please!

Don't plan to use 11.10,but any distro I get with either have Compiz or I'll install it myself.

I used UE for a few months a few years ago and it worked flawlessly. As for now - as I don't like Unity or Shell - I switched to Xubuntu 11.10 and I'm very happy with it. Gnome 2 is still an excellent choice, but it's destined to die sooner or later so I think it's better to support something that will survive 100%.

Im looking to start a distro at 12.04 or 11.10 witch will basicly be the latest versions with GNOME 2 and all the classic features we know and love. Im not really a fan of UE but i dont hate it.
