Nice one, at first, I thought "oh, the operating systems as airway companies/car manufacturers text has resurfaced again..." but it was not.

Comparing Linux to a car doesn't make it immune to criticism because it's a bloody operating system, not a car.

Comparing Linux to a car doesn't make it immune to criticism because it's an open source operating system, not a car.

Fixed that for you.

And I don't think the point of the article was to say that Linux shouldn't be criticized... It just wanted to point out how silly many of the criticism raised against it are if you apply the same logic to other things.

+1.

I especially liked the CD player point, when people are faces with the thousands of players available on Linux and get confused, they should remember that the same thing is happening with real CD players. Go to Wal-Mart and try to buy a TV or a CD player, nobody would complain about having too much choice.

Being free to choose is a huge blessing. Instead of being cornered into using whatever you are told to, you get to decide. And if something doesn't work like you want it to, there is going to be another program out there. If you seek you will find, and then you also get experience going through it.
all around a good deal... if you like to have choice, and get understanding/experience
