I'm not sure why you are asking questions about Sabayon on a Ubuntu forums...but anyhow here's their forums:

I don't consider Sabayon a "light" distro; see http://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?title=En:FAQ#Minimum_requirements_for_Sa bayon_Linux.3F

You might want to give a look at (if you haven't already)

Slitaz

Puppy Linux

The gist of what folks are saying ^^^ is that Sabayon + gui is too heavy for a machine that only has 256 mb of ram.

In other words, you're going to have to go lighter than Lubuntu even. So Puppy, Slitaz, AntiX and the like are where you're going to have to go. You might be able to squeeze Crunchbang w/Open Box which would be preferable if it runs.

it runs ok,when it boots to terminal i type sudo gdm and the desktop comes up,i just want it to go to desktop right away not using terminal, hes not a linux guy or even a windows guy haha,it goes online and watchin avi clips works decent,he likes how it looks just not that easy to get to desktop,we are out of town very far and internet is sloooooow and restricted so i cant download any newer distros to try,i had this one on a disc and it worked so i installed it,i would like to use slitaz as i have tried that before.any tips on booting to gdm not terminal, thanx
