Hi guys,
I (and others) have decided that the new name for Ubuntu Center (iCenterX) sucks. I am open to any ideas for names that you have. Remember this is product will be avaliable for Linux and Mac OS X so it can't have mac or linux in the name.

=D> I like that, very amusing.
On a serious note though, webAbode sounds quite cool.
What about control-pad. A bit like launch pad, but for controlling distros rather than developing them...

I think it'd be a good plan to drop the iPod-wannabe naming ideas and just have something like Abode or HomeFromHome. Basically any name that doesn't have a random pointless lower-case letter on the front :p

Just don't settle on webAbode there's no ring to it-- in fact, it's almost hard to say. The combination of web and abode leaves a nasty slur in the middle => "bAb". Maybe Abode is just a crappy sounding word... I don't know. The concept is nice.

I do actually like Hive, maybe I will go with that? What do you think?

To me, hive has a collective or community connotation. If Ubuntu Center is what I understand it to be (primarily a way to access your files remotely), Hive doesn't seem to be the best choice to me.
I'm not trying to tell you what to do or to be overly opinionated, but if you want this program to succeed on multiple platforms, you're going to have to do some serious consideration-- not simply something that will do.
Give me some time and I will try to come up with a show stopper.

just for the record, my favorite suggestion I've made so far is mediaPhile.
I also like the concept of Portal-- which was suggested by Shadowline, but it would need something to help it.

I appologize for my little monologue here, but I have--what I believe is-- a solid idea.
Okay, so Ubuntu Center...iCenterX...whatever. What does it do? It gives you limited remote access to your computer. You can get your bookmarks, your media, your system stats... you've got almost all your computer-- but not quite. It's more of a summary of your computer.
Now, names for software need to be descriptive to a degree. It helps people know what they're getting. At the same time, it needs to be a name that is MEMORABLE and at least somewhat easy to say. So what word is catchy and describes a summary of something?
I propose:
Nutshell
It's your computer in a nutshell. Your media in a nutshell. Everything you need to access from work all neatly packed in... you get the idea. I think it's a strong name. Easily marketable. Easily remembered. Not that far off from some of the web 2.0 type names that are out there.
I'm tempted to add something to the name that makes it about PC or media or something, but I think it would water down the name.
Mull it over a minute. Get back to me ;)

Thats a good name but I went with Hive over it, Nutshell sounds kinda nutty ;) Hopefully Hive will be good enough.
