upgrade interrupted due to power failure

Hi Friends,
I am new to Ubuntu, i had Ubuntu 10.0 and while upgrading to 11.10 my power get offed now when i rebut my system i see the login screen with cross mark and my pc name and no keyboard or mouse is working.

Please help me to recover my system from it.

It is better to create separate /home partition to avoid data lose.
