I really liked how the previous Breezy forums were divided categorically into Ubuntu and Kubuntu on the main forum page. It made it easier to troubleshoot and identify topics between the two.
Is the new Dapper forum going to follow the same precedence?

No, we use the prefix system now to know if a thread is kubuntu/ubuntu or xubuntu related in the support section.
Do you see that as a disadvantage ?

i admit I was quite fond of the old way it was handled. I see benefits to both ways though...

By prefix, I am going to make the assumption this refers to the tagging. If this is not so, please correct me. I am a business user, so my technical ability and language is K through 5.
A possible problem that could result is incorrect tagging (user error). If someone, like me  , was not paying attention they could not apply the right tag.
So a very good post about Kubuntu, or visa versa, could be missed by sorting through tags. It's also one extra step to filter through the tags.
I am now wondering if the tags could be automatically filtered. (Dare I say like an iTunes playlist with smart folders) For example, a main forum with all the post, and easy identified forums for each of the distros tags (Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu).
When you go in one of the forums (playlist) that is specific to a distros, it will automatically tag your post as such.
If I am really off, or am failing to understand the forums, I would appreciate any feedback.

One of the main reasons for using tags from this point forward is the multiple distro's that are being offered off of the main ubuntu tree, Kubuntu, Xubuntu and Edubuntu. Having a seperate category for each one would result in chaos.
What we are seeing now is phase 1 of the tagging system. Phase 2 will have more filters and search options on the category level.
There are benefits and disadvantages both ways and the tagging seemed to be the best option. I hope that clears some stuff up.
