I have just switched to ubuntu after using SuSE9.1-2 for a half year or so. I took a weekend to try different distro's and was impressed with ubuntu. I now use it at work and home.

I was worried about going gnome, but being able to run my favorite KDE apps rocks. So no worries.

I used K3B for the first time today in ubuntu. On my SuSE box it completely slowed everything down, to the point of just waiting for it to get done. Not with ubuntu it burned fast and did not bog down the system. Actually it seems everything runs a little quicker and better than SuSE.

I still like the way SuSE is easy and pretty, but I need to get work done and am not gonna waste my time with it any more.

Well I am not to sure what gksudo does.
I made a fakeroot? or something like that by doing:

sudo passwd root
and following prompts

so I do this to load it

# su
password:%&@#!
#K3B

I do it that way now after loading K3B on my laptop and trying to load it in my normal user mode, and getting errors telling me to run it as root or something

Just trust me. use the command

gksudo k3b

If you don't you'll bork your .ICEauthority file. Then Gnome goes....
