Working up to the bitter end has produced a new Usplash which IMHO puts ubuntu's boot at the same level of quality as Fedora and SuSE.
See attached preview to decide ...

It is a good splash screen. But as I boot only my computer about once a week, I don't really care about splash screen ;)

too much text...
I know what you mean ... A part of me says keep it simple and another part says make a statement.
Obviously the second part prevalied. Here's some thoughts ...
Product branding is not bad and we live in a world where everything is branded. (e.g. niki shoes).
Why not make ubuntu the brand for linux?
I believe LTS will win big in the business community so let's state it.
My previous versions of this theme played on the symbolism of the sun rising in the sky. I think the ubuntu
logo plays to that symbolism and says alot about the ubuntu community.
The statement "humanity to others" is too important not to be included.
Last, there's a bit of an allusion with the status bar. When installed you may ask the question,
"is the bar moving or is a curtain being pulled away revealing the light behind?"
Cheers ...

I like the text a lot (and the install script). It looks great, thanks!

I think it would look so much better with the official ubuntu font (ttf-ubuntu-title). It should be available in the repositories. This font looks a little like... Duncan Donuts.

I like it. Yes the font for "Humanity to Others" is a little saw-toothed, but you can't display hi-res for that splash right?
Well done, it's a very nice change!

I would really appreciate a blue-themed kubuntu one too!

Looks smooth, really...
But... could you produce for us, ungrateful whiners, version without 'Humanity for others' text? ;-)
