For anyone who missed it. IMHO this is the best thing on the forum since the April Fool's Day theme. The "I want a pony" picture made a brief appearence at the www.ubuntuforums.org main page.

What's the green icon beside the weather icons in your browser if you don't mind me asking? Off topic and all.

The green icon is part of that weather stuff. It is the firefox extension forecastfox. The green icon is a doppler radar. The others tell current temp/conditions/wind and temp/conditions/wind for the day and he next day. There are three versions available: original- https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/398/
localized- https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2024/
and enhanced- https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1978/
I use the original forecastfox, and thats what is in the screenshot. I may switch to forecastfox enhanced, though, it looks nice and has a superior doppler radar.

To use the extension, simply input your area code in the yellow box. That's all you need to do. Ignore the other windows and tabs in the extension settings dialog window unless you want to change the icons or get really deep modifications.

The April Fool's Theme the only theme you could use on April Fool's Day 2006 at www.ubuntuforums.org You used to be able to switch to it at the bottom of the page, because they kept it after April Fool's Day, but i dont see it. It was a hideous purple and green theme. And we HAD to use it, it was default and there was nothing to switch to.

Not only was it funny, it was quite useful too. There were a lot of people who didn't notice the "Global Announcement". With the pony picture, it was difficult NOT to read it :D

Though the moderators sometimes get too strict(for eg. the pony pic was removed a little bit too early), the suprises form the admistrators/moderators make the site very humane.

The pony has been on the fridge since pretty much the beginning. I guess it was to fill up some white space.

It was remade (or copied) a few months ago in response to some comments from Bill Gates that the 100 dollar laptop project should use a $599 device sold by Microsoft instead. Google for "Bill Gates Hates Children" and you may still find it. It said "I want a laptop" and when you clicked on it, you got the same photo of the girl crying with a small laptop in the bottom corner with the quote "no laptop for you!"
