View Full Version : [ubuntu] how to disable touch-pad on Acer Aspire 4551 laptop
September 27th, 2011, 10:03 AM
I am using Ubuntu 10.04, Kernel Linux 2.6.32-32-generic and Gnome 2.30.2 on my Acer Aspire 4551 Laptop.
The Touch-Pad on my Laptop is very sensitive to use and is very inconvenience to use.
Can someone please advise how do I disable the Touch-Pad on my Laptop?

Perhaps there is a physical switch on the laptop?
Or you could try this guide (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticsTouchpad)?

If you just want to disable the tap-to-click feature this can be done with one of the touchpad configuration tools, such as synaptiks that you will find in the ubuntu software center. While I haven't looked at it yet, it may have an option to totally disable your touchpad as well. Of course you would need an external mouse if you totally disable the touchpad.
