I remember a few months ago i had a metacity theme that look like brushed metal, and the close/minimize/restore buttons were invisible until your cursor was over them. Does anyone know that theme's name? I looked everywhere.

are you sure the brushed metal look wasn't being produced by the gtk theme? sometimes metacity uses its only style and colours. sometimes it uses those of the current gtk.
from memory, i think alphacube is like that. i'll go and check later on to confirm, but i remmber using the theme that you're referring to yesterday when i was looking through the different themes and pairing them with various wallpapers.

EDIT: the one you're referring to is called clearice. alphacube is similar, though. the only difference is that alphacube is black in its inactive state and clearice is white.
