Hi Geeks,

Any idea if a 32 bit Ubuntu can support 8Gb of RAM? Any advantage of using 64 bit over 32 bit?

Is there any advantage of using Physical Address Extension than using 64 bit OS?

Someone told me that a 32 bit will automatically adjust when you put more than 4Gb RAM. Is that true?

I am not so aware about this matter. Please shed me some light.

Thanks

Kirk

The default kernel in 32 bit is now PAE so should address your 8GB Ram. However i would use x64, there is no real reason not to

Thanks haqking,

One more question, what is better to use, a 32 bit or 64 bit? In terms of performance, are they the same?

Thanks

64 bit will give you a performance boost.

If you have have x64 hardware then use x64, no real reason not to.
