Like the title says, I'm looking for something like an ipod touch, but running android. Anybody know of such a device?

Was in the market for the same thing a while back, and this seems to be one of the better options::
http://www.amazon.com/Archos-43-4-3-Inch-Internet-Tablet/dp/B00422SH20/ref=pd_cp_e_1

I can't vouch for this device personally, as I received a 7" tablet a a gift and have been using it instead.

Archos 43?
There are a few 5" tablets out there, but pricey.
I wouldn't get anything less than android 2.2 & it has to be capacitive screen, resistive really blows.

I use a iPod touch 4g, got it as a gift. Had a cheap android 2.1 with resistive screen & just hated the screen.

Saw a Samsung Galaxy 5" device on Woot yesterday. It's just like a phone, except its not a phone.

Thanks for all the replies, but I don't want a tablet, and the smaller players don't have android on them. I need android so I can use the SiriusXM and ESPN apps. Anyone else have any ideas?

look for the Archos 32 or 28. They're great and the 32 even hooks up to a TV and dual boots arch linux

Samsung makes the Galaxy Player. It's more or less a Galaxy S 4G with a slower processor and no phone guts.

Yeah, I saw that but they are very hard to find in the US, and very expensive. But they do seem very nice.

I own and Archos device, and, fair warning, it doesn't come with the Android Market. It's got some kind of filtered Archos version. I wouldn't buy another for this reason.

Here's how to get the Android Market on it. Pretty easy. Google is your friend. ;) http://rookieandroid.blogspot.com/2011/01/android-budget-tablet-archos-70-review.html#markethack

It doesn't get you out of the shoddy pressure-based touchscreen, though. (Which would render many Android apps unusable, to think of it, regardless of your ability to install them.)

I could have sworn the Galaxy Player 5 was slated for eventual US release. It's very much a droidPod.

Hope you enjoy the world of Android!

Fair warning- If you're going to use any type of ROM, make Nandroid backups and install Clockwork recovery.

I got stuck without a phone for days after I accidentally bricked mine (temporarily). Eventually, I found someone with a smartphone who would let me borrow it long enough to stick my MicroSD card in and download a ROM.

I would've suggested an Ipod about 20 minutes ago, but iOS doesn't accept applications built on any other OS than Apple :-( Definitely can't use that now. I want something I can dev on. iOS won't allow it unless you have a Mac.

Mine is a bit older, and there used to be hacks for this, but they are broken now at my current firmware version.

And I don't have a Kindle app anymore.

And I am pissed about it.

Just saying that you might want to look at something that you won't have to worry about re-hacking when there are firmware updates.

Was for me last night when I decided I didn't want to learn another programming language to program Android with and decided to check out iOS. I figured they'd at least allow people to develope cross platform for the device. I mean Android may not be the best but they do at least :-(

There is also some Sony Z Series (http://dandygadget.com/2011/09/20/new-sony-z-series-walkman-mp3-players-android-walkman/) player, but I guess it's not out yet, and who knows if it ever will be in the US.

I just picked up the Samsung Galaxy GIO which is a pretty cheap (around 150 CAD) smartphone running Android. It is really nice for the value, and has the market place and all that stuff. It is a phone, but there is no reason you couldn't just use it as an mp3 player or whatever.

Holy cow Batman, that's expensive! $365 for the 16gb version, and it doesn't even have a camera. I think I'm just going to wait and see if I can pick up a Samsung Galaxy Player on sale. If I can find a Galaxy for around $250, I think I'm going to go that route.

Keep posting anything you find though, as long as it's android.
