I like the idea of using "wood" as your desktop image - a nice pun (especially if, as I do, your office is furnished with plastics and metal)... I'll have to bear that in mind when I'm ready for a change. Without checking back, I think what I'm using now is similar to what I posted earlier in the thread:
http://www.basswulf.plus.com/images/screenshot20050225-small.png (http://www.basswulf.plus.com/images/screenshot20050225.jpg)
However, I've now moved my panel to the right hand edge, with a few pop-out drawers for things like the window list and menus. It gives my workspace a more vertical alignment, lets me keep gkrellm in view while not sacrificing any vertical space and puts the applications I commonly need in easy reach (I'm right handed). - it's not just about prettification but also ergonomics!

Open it through console. Go to the directory the Install_GoodWeather_Sensor.bin file is and enter in "sh ./Install_GoodWeather_Sensor.bin" to install the sensor. Then you can run the GW desklet. That's how I got it working in Warty.
And you can get thumbnails for images by hosting your pictures at ImageShack (www.imageshack.us).

Excuse me... (maybe it's just a dumb question) but isn't that an imitation of Gentoo?
Anyway... it's beautifull!
how do you mean? It's a gtk theme. The Gentoo icon can easily be edited to remove the gentoo symbol. I just don't use it so I didn't bother, but since lila (not gentoo) is so popular I made a clearlooks version. Like I said I know....that silly gentoo icon has got to go....just taking a screenie for the Clearlooks-Lila color scheme. Does that answer your question?

I was just under the impressionthat this theme was taken from Gentoo.no offense taken and to be honest I do not know much about Lila other than it is mainly a gentoo thing, but I think that is a result of the icons I just modified/remove so that is doesn't have the gentoo symbols. Most people are not going to do that and most people don't want the gentoo logo all over the place if they do not use gentoo. Other than that. It's a gtk theme made to go with the Lila icons.

This shows how stock icons are being fixed in Icon Themes. Wha? :o Yup! That's right. Grab the new d3a-icons and check it out. I haven't anounced the update at gnome-look because I'm trying to find out more about it and more to add. If you know or find anything, please let me know. I'm trying to fix media, and undo/redo... among others.
the new dir is d3a-icons/32x32/gtk
and you'll notice in this shot that the toolbar is complete despite not using the d3a gtk theme or an iconrc.

Where do you find time/inspiration to make as many schemes & themes as you do?I have no time, but I can tell you the inspiration comes from an 8 year old that picked up a pencil and paper one day and drew a 3d dragster that looked better than anything he's done since...I'm still trying to top it  That's as far as that went and I was into sports etc...then picked up the guitar and as a tennager I turned to heavy metal and played in bands, clubs, and regional tours til I was 22 years old and God smacked me  I've always had to do something creative. I really should perfect things before I share them, but I have no patience and am ready to move on to the other 20 ideas floating around in my head :) Just look at how unfinished Edge-Icons are  (I wish they'd fix the emoticons around here)

Time to go ahead and post a new one. Sorry for the Applications menu, I took this screening for a forum post. about the new menus.
http://home.comcast.net/~amsilveira/screenie.jpg
Consists of:
Mac OSX theme (GTK) from http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=13548
The Metacity is actually a different version... RJaguar from http://aqua-look.org/index.html
Wall paper is one from a google search of 'osx wallpapers'
Icons are actually Excuisite from here
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=16006 because the OSX ones seemed too... bleh....
And the bottom panel is just a regular panel set to transparent. Gdesklets is too unreliable for me, and so i like this better.
And beep media player skin is Aqua from winamp's website.

Why do so many people try to copy the OSX look? It’s nice but designers at Apple are forced to make everything look metallic or white to fit the trendy brand image. In OSX they don’t even give you a choice to change the background colour to a non-apple colour. Lets try and keep to creating some original & creative desktops (I have seen many great ones in this thread) to show our Apple loving friends and convert them to artistic freedom!

Those are just launchers. If you make the top panel transparent in a default install you'll notice that the launchers are transparent. he just moved them to the bottom and made his window list/task bar/whatever you wanna call it show on the top panel instead.

Not too different from my from the default, since that seemed pretty sane to me. Background is randomly changed every 5 minutes out of a collection of 10082 similar pictures using a script someone posted here. No icons on my desktop, keep all my launchers in the panel, grouped by theme. Theme is Clearlooks-DeepSky.

Pretty good job guys/gals !
Sadly, besides my past Apple conversion, I keep things simple : Black background, black nautilus, default icons. I'll have to sit one day with deviantart and make this pretty ^_^ .

my "old" ubuntu 4.10 with heavily customized clearlooks/ana-mix-theme, a custom made icon-theme, additional panels on right side. i am not done yet with the theme and the icons (still need to add more mimetype icons for apps like evolution) but it looks quite okay, right?

Forum's FAQ
http://ubuntuforums.org/faq.php?
6. Go easy on the images, they may help to explain something more clearly or indicate a problem you are experiencing better but you have to remember that not everyone has the same amount of bandwidth to waste on downloading large image files. If you feel you have to post images, make sure that they're properly compressed and no more than 80KB at the absolute most.

Not sure what you mean. The host of my images is on a 100Mb/s switch... plenty fast.
What he means is your pictures are in the 700+kb to big for the web, they should be optimize for the web down in the 100 kb give or take a few for faster loading, I have dsl didn't take to long but long enough.
Now the person with a 56k modem will be... well let say not to happy over 1.4 mb to download very slow for him.
Hope this makes you understand.

I completely agree - it's something far from being done, but there are so many awesome things about it now, I can hardly wait for them to finish with the new libraries and really start adding the features back in. I am of course back in e16 now, but since I went to all the trouble today building all that cvs I thought I'd share a screenshot =). Almost all of the EFL based apps work in other window managers too though so I've got my engage dock in e16 and am using other various e17 based apps :-)

Ok, so here's E17 with ALL the modules loaded ;-):
http://www2.potsdam.edu/sprang31/e17screenshot.png
It really slowed my system to a crawl with it's poor little Rage 128 card, but I loaded all the modules that I could and opened a few apps so you could see that the drop shadow was on (I had turned that off because it was just slowing down my system, forgot about it).
Here's the E16 screenshot:
http://www2.potsdam.edu/sprang31/e16screenshot.png
The enlightenment theme is called Shade and I'm using it with the industrial gtk theme (I like a clean interface). You can see that I've got engage opened here as well and in the standalone version (non e17 module version) it has some added features such as iconifying windows. I left the iconbox open so you could see that's what it is. I've also got two enlightenment foundation library apps open: Evidence the file manager and Entice the picture viewer. They're pretty slick apps.
E17 is only available through cvs (I built it this morning) so I'm guessing the verison of enlightenment you've used before was E16 at the greatest. Most of the libraries are debianized so it's just a simple matter of going through and doing debian/rules build ; debian/rules binary, install the *.deb's and keep going. Some of the debian/control files are messed up though and make the packages have the wrong dependencies, so you'll have to watch out for that if you build it the debian way. Honestly though I think that if/when I build cvs again I'll just put it all into /usr/local/. It's kind of a mess having some of the stuff controlled by debian packages and the rest installed in /usr/local.
Anyway, that post is quite long enough, ta!
