I am trying to help someone getting Ubuntu to play sound, but cannot pinpoint the problem for a Google search solution. The audio works when he boots into windows, but on Ubuntu their is no sound.

Sound Blaster Audio card is installed since motherboard sound was fried during a thunderstorm (doesn't work on either Operating System).

Any help would be appreciated.

May be there's more that is fried on the Motherboard.

Other than that, is the fried audio onboard disabled in BIOS?

If it was not disabled on BIOS, how do I proceed to do so?

It depends who made the Motherboard. On mine I have to press <F8> to get access to BIOS.
