Most of my issues with Oneiric have been resolved but this one remains. I did a test with Live USB's from Natty release ISO and today's daily live ISO to test network browsing. I have taken some screen shots to show what I am seeing and the difference is great. I plugged the live USB into the same computer and tried to browse my network.

On my network I have a Natty machine, a Windows XP and a Dlink NAS.

On Natty live USB I can browse to all devices but on Oneiric I can only browse to my NAS.

I understand I might be able to change some configuration but if I do not have to do this with Natty then why would I have to do that to get Oneiric to work the same way.

Here are the Screen Shots.

Thanks Bill

Ditto, Nautilus network browsing still broken in Ubuntu 11.10 as of 9/13/11.

Of course you can get around this by putting in the specific hostname or IP address of the server that has SMB shares you wish to browse by doing Go > Location, and entering smb://<IP ADDRESS OR HOSTNAME>/

I just tried a beta2 live usb and this is still unresolved. Is no one else seeing this? I have two shared guest folders that can be seen with a 11.04 live usb but cannot be seen by a 11.10 live usb. It is a guest folder doesn't that mean that you should be able to just browse to with no configuration setup?

A completely confused Bill
