Hello,

I am a new ubuntu user since today. I used Gentoo before, and I just want to congratulate the developers. It took me a couple of hours to have a hoary 2.9 gnome desktop, with my Radeon and my Audigy up and running [in gentoo it took me several days].

And most importantly, if I migrated to ubuntu it is because I want to develop using mono and it's much more easier under ubuntu, mainly due to a full nptl support.

Once again, great work and great community.

Julien

Welcome fellow former-gentooer.
Isn't it nice to have stuff just install and run? It took 2 days to compile X and a window manager w/ gentoo. I liked having everything already there after the install w/ Ubuntu =D>

Thanks guys for your welcome.
It is indeed great to have a full gnome desktop in 2 hours :-) but gentoo helped me learn a lot about linux !!!!

Anyway, as I said, I need to find out about mono (as in real life i'm a .net developer) but gentoo had some issues with the glibc librairy, so it caused trouble with debuger etc ... but now I have my dev machine - thanks to Ubuntu ....
