I am very new to this forum, and this is my first thread. I ve been trying to install WinXP home edition to my Toshiba Satellite pro a200 and because of the difficulty in getting sata/raid driver installed. I am wondering if it is possible to use Ubuntu to do this without going through all the processes i had to go through with windows intallation process? as the error message i got was "could not access HDD".

I have no experience at all with Ubuntu but have heard about it so wondered if i could try it. is there anyone who can give me some direction?

My daughter has a Toshiba satellite pro a300-2cv with dual boot:
Linux Mint 9 (based on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS) and Windows Vista.

Mint installed without hardware compatibility problems. We use it with a (single) SATA disk. I can also use the eSATA entension and mount another SATA disk. But I have no experience with RAID, so you need help from someone else, if you want that.

How can I delete a message created by mistake (I wanted to make a small edit to my previos message)?

Or is there some error with the SATA hardware or the disk?
