View Full Version : [kde] widget/icon order on panel gets lost after logout
August 31st, 2011, 07:04 PM
I added a 2nd panel to the top.
Got around 8 starter/widgets/icons there.
Whenever I have put them to my desired order (left) and log out or reboot
they got mixed up randomly on the whole panel, sometimes overlapping.
Thanks for suggestions.

I have noticed it on other Ubuntu flavours too.
It happens to me when I start a computer attached to a KVM switch (VGA type) without focusing on that computer. Then it will start with reduced resolution, and the widgets/icons 'have to' move to stay within the screen.
Also it happens sometimes in Ubuntu Lucid (standard with Gnome) that the 'exit' widget will be absent (but it will return after reboot). Luckily I can use the terminal and issue
sudo reboot or sudo poweroff

Yes, it's disgusting that one has to spend so much time fixing trivial things. Anyway, here's a cure for this one (after http://askubuntu.com/questions/55878/all-desktop-settings-are-messed-after-logout): in System Settings -> System Administration -> Startup and Shutdown -> Session Management turn -> On login choose Start with an empty session.
