Ugh, they could have at least selected Plastik as the theme.

Pleasure doesn't really describe the feeling I get looking at those shots. :-&

The last two posts give me a distinct sense of deja vu. Eerie.

Go Kubuntu! One less unfair knock against Ubuntu ("but it doesn't support KDE") is gone!

I agree, minus 1 thing anyone can say against Ubuntu.
I like Gnome better though.

As soon as an entity tries to be all things to all people it has become doomed.
I've got no problem with KDE - use it all you want, but I think the decision to make Kubuntu will hurt canonicals ability to make Ubuntu the best distro.

Why does it use the big K for it's start bar? Shouldn't it have the Ubuntu symbol?

Perhaps they will in future iterations. Currently it pretty much looks the same as when I run KDE on warty.

I agree. Ubuntu and Gnome go hand in hand. Having that clear focus is what makes it so great.
What's the point of "Kubuntu" anyway? I though KDE could be installed through apt in Ubuntu. Either way, there are tons of great KDE distros out there.

I don't think they will brand everything as Ubuntu. If you look at GNOME you don't see Ubuntu icon instead of the gnome feet. Too much branding just turns you off from using anything IMHO.

Yeah, I know. Plastik is finally the default in 3.4, though... I'm not sure why Keramik lasted so long; it seems to be loathed by everyone.
