Hi all!

Does anyone know how to change Gnome Panel and make it look like this picture?

Thanks in advance.

If that's a desklet, do you know what it is?

The panel is not "real"... it is a mockup that means a picture of a would-like panel in the future...

The only thing not possible in that panel is the 'systray' concept.

Sweet :)

How did you get rid of those bars at the ends of the panel? And if you are using Dapper, how did you make colors work again correctly when using a picture as panel background?

There's no bars at the end on the panel because the panel expands to the sides of the windows, as does the panel bg image, which is transparent on the left and right of what you see. Images are in the Gentle theme which can be found at the link in my SIG.

I am on dapper, and though I haven't updated in a long while (I'm dialup) those shots where taken just before that panel transparency got wacked out. Hope the've fixed that by now. I miss changing types of panels. This top 24px thing is getting old again :-?

Ok, Why I didn't even think about doing it that way? :)

And, as far as I know, the transparency bug isn't fixed yet. At least not in Dapper, and last time I looked not in upstream either :(

hey I didn't think of it either...found out here on the forum in another thread. That's because I had given up messing with the panel long ago. Gnome-panel devel is separate from gnome-devel for some silly reason and if anyone thinks gnome-devel is slow, just look at gnome-panel. They do what they can with the resources they have though. Gdesklets is/was the worst thing that ever happend to gnome. Everyone hopped in that fleeting fad and set back the gnome panel a few years. No, I'm not kidding :p Think of where the gnome panel would be if able minded individuals contributed to it, instead of an 'extras' gdesklet ](*,) Need to get priorities straight!

That Gentle Gnome mockup is really sweet! How close can we get to that with our current Dapper setups?

hello all, just installed gdesklets, and I'm trying to get a launcher like the macos one...

i've set it up with a few launchers, and its transparent alright as advertised in several snapshots, but if i bring it up on a window, it doesnt show that window in the background, but shows my desktop background...does anyone know how to fix that?

cheers

Galileon.
