hi all,

i am fresh off the windows bandwagon & have no idea what i am doing with ubuntu. my inexperience has been manageable thus far because google searches provide me with what i need.

however, tonight i'm trying to enable the webcam that comes built into my asus eee pc 1001pxd using this link -- http://wiki.eeeuser.com/howto:controlcamera -- but have been unsuccessful. when i type that first command, the terminal window says:

bash: /proc/acpi/asus/camera: No such file or directory

indeed, /asus does not exist.

could someone walk me through this, please? step-by-step with a lot of hand-holding? or just a nudge in the right direction? like i said, i am incredibly new to this (& clueless!) but wanting to learn. thanks so much!

Strange. Asus eeePC 1001PXD has Ubuntu pre-installed option. http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/hardware/201101-6987
