I have set Wine to WINDOWS 2000 and finally have the game installed and ready. Unfortunately, when I press the game, the screen goes black as if loading full screen and then goes back to normal without loading the game...

Any ideas on what I can do from here to play my game?

I was just there about a month ago. It has something to do with the movie codecs, wine doesn't know how to read them and thus the program crashes whenever one is reached making it unplayable. Sorry, but on the plus side I did get it to work in VirtualBox.

Let me know if you do get it to work somehow, it was a killer game.

I looked at the FF7 appdb page http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=126, and it had a link to codec true motion 2.0 download and said to install it using wine.

Maybe give that a try and see if you have luck?
