View Full Version : [ubuntu] Music across network issue

I'm trying to get a 'satisfactory' solution to sound over local network, which feeds into my 2nd machine next to my desk and into amp and speakers. I have flac files on a 2TB NAS, which I was happily able to access using MediaMonkey under *******. That machine has been replaced by a (for me) quite well specified self build with Meerkat. MMonkey doesn't really fly at all under WINE (not for network files anyway), and I have not yet found anything else with the same level of control, or reliable streaming. Unless I'm being thick, Amarok, Rhythmnbox, Amarain, etc don't seem to offer the same heirarchical layout of folders, so getting at what you want is a hassle, and they all seem much more prone to jitters and jumps and drop-outs than MM. I'm sure it's a case of not having found the solution rather than it being impossible.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks in advance.
