I have a problem with my pc, you can read about it here (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AmLjS6X1WQXjR7i137AlbAfty6IX;_ylv=3?qid =20110811082024AAUg47d) if you like

anyway, I might go for ubuntu, the thing is I'm in Lebanon and here few, very few people use linux, most of them never heard about ubuntu lol, therefore you'll be really lucky if you can buy an ubuntu cd or even if you find someone can find someone capable of installing it.

So when they fix my pc, they might install xp coz they don't have a linux operating system, and i hate win 7 and vista

so I'll have to download ubuntu and install it by myself, I don't want to dual boot coz i don't have a super computer lol, i have used ubuntu on my vps, never on desktop before so i would like to know if you can download ubuntu, install it, on a xp pro, then remove xp pro? is there any tutorial? thank you

Just download an ISO image, burn it on CD, boot from CD, choose the "install Ubuntu, use entire hard drive" option (or something like that). You don't even need to have XP installed for that, the HD can be completely blank. Basically, it doesn't matter, what's on the hd, it is all going to be wiped out during the Ubuntu install.

Before you do that, I recommend choosing the "Try Ubuntu from CD" option to make sure that all the hardware is recognised. Ideally, you should also have internet access during the install, then Ubuntu will immediately download various updates.

Welcome to the Forum;
Use XP to get online and download the Ubuntu install .isos. 11.04 is the latest Release, but you may want to start with Release 10.04, it's a LongTermRelease and it's very stable now. http://releases.ubuntu.com/10.04/
