When I'm using the internal wifi card on my laptop the internet will go REALLY slow (around 2 kbs at times). It goes faster when I'm in the same room as the router but any farther away and it slows to a crawl. From what I've gathered over time it's an Atheros AR5001x wireless card. I know it's just the internal card because I have a USB dongle that works just fine when plugged into it. I'm on Kubuntu 11.04 Any ideas?
