My internal mic is not working and after a week of trawling the threads and trying all the fixes which have solved other peoples problems my mic still won't work either in sound recorder or skype.By adjusting the volumes in gnome-alsamixer I can just to say hear my voice in sound recorder if I scream, but no amount of fiddling will increase the volume.
Ubuntu 10.04 Kernal Linux 2.6.32-33-generic GNOME 2.30.2
Acer 5100 card hda ati sb chip realtek alc883
Config:- options snd-hda-intel model=acer-aspire added to alsa-base.conf
Skype option to adjust turned off
Microphones not muted
Has anyone come across a definitive answer to this problem that an idiot like me can implement. Mic works just great in Windows Vista by the way. I was going to go 100% Ububtu as 10.04 was working first class but can't now because I need Skype.
