Got an integrated SD reader?

Got Ubuntu (duh)?

Here's a bit of a trick to get Ubuntu to READ your card. I can do this with my camera, but I think it'll work with any SD card device.

1) Plug in your Camera (or whatever) With the SD card

2) Take out the card of your camera.

3) Place it in the reader.

It should read it, it's done it multiple times with mine.

Have fun~

So does your card reader not read the card without going through that palaver?

What machine do you have and what sort of card, SD, SDHC?

I have never had to do that on my netbook, nor my wife's laptop just to get a card read, so I suspect this is a specific hardware problem of yours.
