greetings, I just acquired a Lifebook T4020 Tablet and would like to get back into playing with linux again. I do need to keep windows on it for some software that does not have linux support, so i would like to dual boot with linux and windows. I would like to be able to have the Tablet functionality in linux though if possible. could anybody direct me to some good software for the pen and rotating screen of the tablet if its out there? i've also never run a linux laptop, do i need extra software for the touchpad or does ubuntu recognize that automatically?

i have a lifebook t4210 and everything but screen rotation works with ubuntu 11.04. i did not have to do anything to get the pen to work.as for the screen rotation thats the least of my worries at this time.

neat, thats good to know. the screen rotation is really handy when im quoting a job, but i could make due without or run windows when doing that.

I just picked up a T4020d and everything works right out of the box except for the tablet buttons and the screen rotation. While the screen can be rotated through Control Center, the digitizer doesn't rotate with it. The pen works properly and even has pressure sensitivity. It looks like it may take a fair amount of tweaking to get it to work right. If nobody can offer a quick fix, I'll try to figure it out myself, but most of the information I've found is old and probably won't work with Natty.

Welcome to Ubuntu forums!
If nobody can offer a quick fix, I'll try to figure it out myself, but most of the information I've found is old and probably won't work with Natty.
The quick fix use to be installing Robert Gerlach's fjbtndrv PPA: https://launchpad.net/~khnz/+archive/ppa?field.series_filter= The fjbtndrv git repository is at: http://sourceforge.net/projects/fjbtndrv/
But it looks like it has been a while since he worked on it and he may no longer be supporting it. Certainly there's no Natty version I am aware of. So it would be good if you could take it up. Otherwise for rotation see the Rotation HOW TO (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6274392&postcount=1).
