I love Ubuntu, and I love Linux. I've been meaning to switch completely from using Windows on my desktop - but something is stopping me.

I have Ubuntu in dual-boot at the moment, no shame in that. But I feel that the responsiveness and the feel to it is wrong each time I boot up. By the way I am a fan of the Ubuntu "Classic". So my case is that I want to be able to move around with windows, open and browse menus and et cetera and preserve the nice and responsive feel that I once had in Windows 7 and Mac OS X.

Judging by my graphics card, which I assume may be the problem, this should by no means be a problem - in Windows at least. I have a couple of Radeon HD 6870 in crossfire.

Is there something I am missing? As I mentioned, I love Ubuntu - but it might be a bit challenging to cope with if I cant resolve this issue.
