Thank you for the link. I'm in the market for an inexpensive laptop that will run Ubuntu. Question though, the certifications are for a model number like
ASUS Eee PC 1015PX
But in the stores the model numbers look something like
ASUS Eee PC 1015PX-MU17-RD
What are those other numbers, and are they still certified?

Yes, it should be.
The alternative is buying the pre-installed Ubuntu system. http://www.monclick.it/catalogo/search/ricerca.asp?testo=ubuntu&x=0&y=0

Europe only again, it appears.
C'mon ASUS, why not find some US retailers who are willing to kick the Microsoft-only habit?

I can't seem to find a preloaded laptop, refurbished or based on older processors/chipsets that's affordable and "made" or distributed in the USA :-|

Neither in the UK. I tried to contact Asus about it but got no reply :-(

Asus responded that they have no plans to release 1015PX with Ubuntu in the UK.
