I have just installed Dapper on an acer 1310 aspire laptop. I've followed the instructions on the wiki to install EU, and it hangs when setting up flash. Now the update manager won't start ("Only one software management tool is allowed to run at the same time"), same for synaptic. I've run "sudo dpkg --configure -a", and the system still hangs on setting up flash.
I'd appreciate any tips on what i could do, either to get flash running, or remove EU so that i can use synaptic and update. Thanks!

Did you add Universe and Multiverse to the repositories?

i'm not sure if i had those repositories before, but i made sure they were enabled in synaptic now. The same problem still occurs though.

From the terminal, try these two commands:
sudo aptitude install flashplugin-nonfree
sudo update-flashplugin

Did you install with espresso (LiveCD)? If so you will need to reconfigure your debconf to get flash to install. Open the terminal and type
sudo dpkg-reconfigure debconf
Scroll up using the up key to Dialog and hit enter. then you will select ok by hitting Enter. Then scroll down to medium and hit Enter to select it. The utility will then exit on it's own. After that you should be good to go.
