Situation : Friend wants me to help create a wargame server, thus he chooses Hardy , as it is a little bit older etc easier to create vulnerabilities on etc. I think to myself cool idea lets do it. He wants said machine to spit out all types of randomness when scanned via nmap and the like, ok easy we'll just make some custom iptables rules, no problem.

Problem : Evidently, there is no xtables support for 8.04? I've seen xtables-addons-common, but in order to use it I need xtables-addons-source, which is not in the repos and I'm having a heck of a time finding it anywhere.

Any suggestions, up to and including use Karmic are welcome, I've set this up on Lucid and other distros but I've never had to on Hardy.

Question 1 ) Does anyone know where to get both the common package and the source package , OR the combined package.

Question 2 ) Is it even worth the time or should we just use Karmic?

Question 3) Is the source package intentionally left out of the repos or was this a mistake?

Thanks everyone have a great day.
